I have this fun-sounding bike idea. I have been thinking about it so much that I already took some action to make it come true. I will share about that in this story.
What if some friends come over and we all go on an easy Townie bike ride and have a picnic with food that I carry in my basket? There are some nice wide flat paved trails near our house and we can ride on the sidewalk all the way there. Yes, I know bikes are supposed to ride on the road, but I like the sidewalk and always yield to pedestrians. We would take the sidewalks all the way to the hike and bike trail. Then we would have a short and beautiful ride on a nature trail. After that we have a nice picnic on a picnic table by a blue stream where water rushes around some rocks.
I am going to talk about the bikes that we will ride.
There is a bike company named Electra that is owned by Trek, one of the top bike companies. They make a bike that is clearly designed for enjoyment. They have Flat Foot Technologytm that allows you to sit on the seat with your feet flat on the ground. The seating position allows you to sit completely upright with no weight on your wrists. You look straight ahead. The large padded seat is supportive, unlike most tiny bike seats that. It may be the most comfortable bike that I have ever ridden. It’s certainly a joyful comfort bike.
I discovered the Townie bike at the Moab bike shop in Franklin about ten years ago. I was checking it out and a salesman asked me if I wanted to ride it. I replied, “Of course!” I took it out for a spin and was instantly enamored. I concluded that the Townie was a very special well-designed bike that simply made me smile. I made a vow that I would get a Townie someday. Several years ago, I got a used white one on Facebook Marketplace for a fair price. I put red Speedy Miguel stickers and installed a big basket. Then we got one for Phyllis in Muscle Shoals, Alabama when we were on a Mike & Phyllis adventure. That story is on my blog. If you are counting you know there are now four Electra Townies in my garage.
I am inviting my friends to come and enjoy our childhoods together...
We will sneak up on some exercise, enjoy a dose of sunshine, appreciate beauty and a stream, while eating some fun creative picnic food together.
I anticipate that those that experience a Townie bike ride and picnic may want their own Townie. If so, then I will help them to find their own Electra Townie and get it tuned up and in top shape.
Before long several of our friends may have their own Townies. We will gather and do some fun bike trails. Or not…
Maybe we will just keep it simple and they will come over to my house for picnic rides and we will call it good. Either way the future includes Townie bike escapades with friends.
